Modern Family's Jason Winer Won at the DGA Awards

The Directors Guild of America has chosen the winners for the 62nd Annual DGA Awards.  Included in the winners is "Modern Family"'s beloved director, Jason Winer.  He bagged the Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Comedy Series for the episode "Pilot".

This is incidentally, Jason Winer's very first DGA Award.  Congratulations to the whole team and I hope for more episodes to come for "Modern Family".    For the list of winners and to see the names of the whole team of Jason Winer, please see the link below.

Modern Family - "My Funky Valentine" Promotional Pics

These are the photos for the episode "My Funky Valentine" which airs on Feb. 10 on ABC.  This is the episode where David Brenner will play the role of himself as a stand-up comedian.  This is incidentally the Valentine's Day episode of "Modern Family".  I'm always always waiting for comedy Wednesdays to come.  I wonder what funny scenes will emerge from this Valentine's date of Phil and Claire.

Modern Family Kids on Episode "Fears"

William Keck of TV Guide Magazine has some spoilers for us on the upcoming episode of "Modern Family".  Are the writers of this episode sadistic?  For me they're not.  These are realities that we must accept and we must overcome these fears to get on with our lives.  This episode is really exciting, what do you think?

An upcoming episode, titled "Fears," places a terrified Manny on a rollercoaster, simple minded Luke under his family’s home, and Haley behind the wheel for her drivers license test. Each of this scenarios just happens to mimic the three child actors’ actual phobias.

"Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and Jay (Ed O’Neill) take me on a rollercoaster,” says Rico Rodriguez, who plays Manny. “We're going to be shooting on Santa Monica Pier and this is my first time ever riding a rollercoaster. I really don't like them, but I'm going to face my fear and go for it! They want me to test it out a day before we shoot, so I asked Eric Stonestreet, who plays Cameron, if he'd come and help me."

In the same episode, Phil (Ty Burrell) believes there may be buried treasure under the Dunphy house, so he enlists son Luke (Nolan Gould) to go digging. "It's going to be hard for me because I'm personally claustrophobic,” tells Nolan. “Our set teacher said, 'Man, we're going to have a hard time next week because (Rico and Nolan) are both afraid of what they're doing."

The half hour also finds Haley (Sarah Hyland) taking her driving test. Sarah has her own driving phobia stemming from a wreck she caused shortly after getting her own driving license. "I wasn't injured, but the guy I hit was complaining of neck pain so he went to the ER." But the worst part: "I was on my way to a party, so I was wearing a hoochie mama dress and big high heels. So I get out of my car, trying to pull my dress down so my underwear didn't show. I looked like some hooker who got into a car accident."

Gay dads Cameron and Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) aren't without their own fears concerning their baby daughter, Lily. "We're worried that if there's a flu crisis, our doctor will give the available medicine to the patients she likes best," previews Eric. "So we invite her over to our home for brunch."

Turns out the writers aren't sadistic. Show runner Steven Levitan explains, "I used a lot of my own fears and our other writers' fears concerning things we've noticed with our own kids."

More Scoops for Upcoming Episodes

Here is Michael Ausiello from EW.com and his scoop about the next things to come on "Modern Family".  I think the racquetball game and the driving test will happen on "Moon Landing" episode.  It's the same episode where Cam and Jay will do some butt touching.  See for yourself . . .

Question: Hey, mister, got any Modern Family scoop? —Sarah P.
Ausiello: Yes, ma’am, I do. Coming soon to a TV near you…
* Luke and Ty go treasure hunting underneath the house.
* Haley takes her driving test.
* Cam challenges Jay to a game of racquetball.
* A vacation is in the works. “Our showrunners really wanna go to Hawaii,” says Eric Stonestreet (Cam). “I hear them hatching plots. And let’s face it, every great sitcom goes to Hawaii at some point.”

Scoop on Phil and Claire on "Modern Family"

Mickey O'Connor of TV Guide has a new scoop for all "Modern Family" fans.  It's for the upcoming episode with Judy Greer as guest star.  I would love to watch this episode and see how Julie Bowen's character will react to Phil's ex.

What crazy things will Phil do next on Modern Family? — Amy

MICKEY:
Last week Julie Bowen teased some sexytime between Claire and Phil, but she tells us there might be one obstacle: Facebook. "My husband has ex-girlfriends who get in touch with him and I have ex-boyfriends that get in touch with me, and we laugh about it. This being Modern Family though, it's going to take a twist for the worse," she says. That twist is the always enjoyable Judy Greer, who pops in to play Phil's unstable ex. This reminds me of that time that I reconnected with that girl from the gym who taught me how to stretch. Oh wait, that wasn't Facebook. Never mind!

Cast of Modern Family in 2010 SAG Awards

Enjoy these cool videos from Youtube posted by TVGuide.  These are segments of interviews done by Marc Istook and Adrianna Costa on the 16th Annual SAG Awards night.  The cast of "Modern Family" express their feelings of having their show nominated.  It is just sad that they did not win.  I have to say again that for me, "Modern Family" is still the best comedy show right now.

Scoop on Cam and Mitchell's Baby - Lily

Here is an interesting scoop by Matt Webb Mitovich of Fancast on Lily:

Any scoop on my second-favorite family, the Dunphys? – Sasha

How about a bit on the youngest member of ABC’s ‘Modern Family‘? Baby Lily will utter her first word – and her choice is one that sends Cameron and Mitchell reeling. Also on the horizon: Judy Greer (’Arrested Development’) will play an ex-girlfriend of Phil’s with whom he’s reunited via Facebook, and Alex will convince Luke that he’s adopted (though not related to ‘TVD’s Katherine).

Rico Rodriguez and RAR Clothing Collection

Inside the 2010 SAG Awards, William Keck has gathered some news about our favorite shows.  One of them is for Modern Family's cute and smart Rico Rodriguez and his collection of clothing line called RAR.

Modern Family's Rico Rodriguez, who plays Gloria's fashionable Columbian son, Manny, said his conservative casino may not have met with his character's approval. "Manny would have probably spiced up this look with some color from his Columbian culture," offered Rico. "Perhaps a fancy shirt." Somehow it didn't surprise me when the very grown-up 11-year-old told me his tuxedo was from his own collection. "This is me and my sister's clothing line, called RAR If Its Fashions," said the tyke. "The RAR stands for Raini and Rico." (Incidentally sister Raini, 16, is also an actor, whohad a role in last year's big-screen hit, Paul Bart: Mall Cop.)

"Our line is made to fit all sizes," said Rico. "For children and adults. Our dad started it and nine months ago we started doing the designs." So far no ponchos are available for purchase.

Scoop from the SAG Awards Night

During the SAG Awards, Watch with Kristin on E!Online got us some scoops on the next episodes of "Modern Family".  It's about a car crash, I wonder in which episode this will be.  Here they are:

Bree in Michigan: I think Modern Family should have beat Glee at the Golden Globes! Anything coming up on the funniest show around?

No comment on the Globes talk, but quite a few car troubles ahead on Modern Family! Rico Rodriguez, who plays young prodigy Manny, told us this of his TV family at the Screen Actors Guild Awards: "Mitchell, Gloria and Manny have some fun at a cupcake shop, [then] a car crash happens!" Will Sara Hyland's Haley be involved? We're thinking maybe, after she teased this: "The big question will be: Does Haley pass her driving test or does she fail her driving test? You won't find out for awhile, but it's going to be funny!"

Matt in Pennsylvania: More Modern Family, please.

Benjamin Bratt returns as Manny's wayward—and way sexy!—dad in the Feb. 10 episode. Wonder if Jay is still upset about being stood up?

Red Carpet Photos on the 2010 SAG Awards Night

The men and women of "Modern Family" shine on their Red Carpet photos during the 16th SAG Awards.  I specifically love Sofia Vergara's gown.  A two-tone off-shoulder Carolina-Herrera gown shines on the SAG Awards Night.  Nolan Gould and Rico Rodriguez both look wonderful and smart in these pictures.  Enjoy!

Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet on NPR

NPR did an interview of onscreen partners Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet or Mitchell and Cam in the newest, craziest comedy show "Modern Family".  You will find out here how well Eric plays his role as gay because he is a very straight guy.  Many seem to get disappointed or some can't believe that he's not queer.  Below is the interview, read on.

On creating chemistry as a couple
Stonestreet: I just think chemistry comes from an openness of a performer, and Jesse is an actor that’s willing to put himself out there, and I consider myself sort of the same way, and I really feel that’s where chemistry comes from, is a sense of vulnerability for each other. It works for our relationship on the show, but it works for us as actors.

On giving Cameron a higher voice than he has naturally
Stonestreet:
I feel like Cameron — and I don’t like it when actors talk about stuff like this, but — I feel like Cameron is a comfortable, comforting, nurturing sort of person that just … his idea and his intention is to soothe. And Cameron’s voice comes from that quality that I want him to have. … And it comes from my mom. I’ve said in lots of interviews that my mom gestures a lot, and the whole thing started with just watching her and observing and mimicking her and how she reacts in situations.

On the puzzling nature of viewer perceptions
Stonestreet:
The best example I can give about this — and Jesse was standing right there, so he can be my witness — a gentleman came up to me at a party, and he literally said this to me: “OH MY GAWD, YOU ARE TEEEW MUCH.” And I said, “What?” And he said, “SERIOUSLY, A KIMONO? I MEAN, A KI-MO-NO? PUHHH-LEEZE. YOU ARE TEEEW MUCH. AND YOU’RE STRAAAIGHT?” And I go, “Yeah, I am.” And he goes, “Oh, please you can’t tell me you’re not questioning soooomething, come on!” He walks away, and I’m like, “Jesse, I am so glad he delivered me the message that I am too much.”

On retaining couplehood
Ferguson:
I think sometimes, since we aren’t a real couple in real life, as some people don’t realize, we forget that there is moments of tenderness and affection, and we try and find places to fuse that as much as possible. And there’s some great moments of that in the Valentine’s Day episode.

On stereotypes
Ferguson:
We’re not traditional gay characters as seen on TV in recent history. We have different body types, and I think that’s also, in itself, unique.

Stonestreet: I felt like that going in, as far as my physicality goes, was — it added jokes to the character. That was sort of my pitch as far as why I should get the audition in the beginning. “Put a well-built dude in there and you’re cliche and you can be stereotypical and mean. Put me there and you open a world of jokes.”

This may typecast him in his future roles but nobody does it like Eric Stonestreet.  Do you agree with me?

Eric Stonestreet is Modern Family's Center of Attention

In an article of TVGuide Magazine, Damian Holbrook talks about Eric Stonestreet and his character in "Modern Family" Cameron Tucker.  We will see here how Eric is the center of attention for most viewers.  I love the Cam Show.  How about you?  Sound off below.

HE PLAYS Cameron Tucker, the overdramatic teddy bear whose devotion to uptight
partner Mitchell Pritchett (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) is only rivaled by his love for their newly adopted daughter. And musical theater. And balloon animals. And pretty much everything else. “I always say that I’m the straight version of Cameron, as far as the passion and celebration of moments in life,” says the contagiously upbeat Kansas native. “I’m a person who can get excited about all kinds of things…to the point of feeling like I have ADD!”

WHERE YOU’VE SEEN HIM Being really dramatic for five seasons on CSI as documents techie Ronnie Litre, a recent guest turn on Nip/Tuck and an out-of-this-world ER gig. “I played this guy who cut his ears to look like Mr. Spock,” he says. “A lot of Trekkies know me from that scene.” Before that, it was all fun and games at Chicago’s Second City, where Stonestreet studied under Liz Lemon herself. “Tina Fey was my Level 2 teacher. I had a huge crush on her.”

WHY WE LOVE HIM We can’t not! “Who wouldn’t want to be friends with Cameron? I would want to be his friend just because he doesn’t let those moments pass that we all let sweep by,” says Stonestreet. His Cam has also won us over by constantly bringing the sweet to Ferguson’s sourpuss Mitchell. “Eric and I have an embarrassing amount of chemistry,” agrees Ferguson. “I think it really does disappoint some people when they find out we are not an actual couple.”

THE CAM SHOW MUST GO ON “I think The Cam Show, in his mind, is an ongoing show,”
laughs Stonestreet of Family’s in-joke about his character’s fondness for being the center of attention. “It’s always being broadcast. I would love to see more of The Cam Show. It’s appointment viewing, after all!” So are you, buddy. So are you!

The 2010 Golden Globe Look of Sofia Vergara

Do you agree with me that Sofia Vergara's Golden Globes look was very simple yet stunning?  Read on how she prepared for this Golden Globe look.  For the whole story click on the link below.

“I didn’t want to wear my hair up, but it started raining and it’s better to wear it up and look fixed the whole night than have it look good for ten minutes,” she explained the following morning on the Modern Family set, where she talked about the thrill of attending her first Golden Globes and meeting A-Listers like Sophia Loren.

Vergara didn’t have much time to prepare in advance for the big event. “The whole week I was feeling like I should have been doing something special, but I was working,” she explains. “I did my nails on Saturday but I always do my nails on Saturday.” Her hair and makeup artists appeared at her home on Sunday morning to strategize about what would complement the crimson-accented blue-gray strapless gown.

“The dress was pretty serious because of the color, so I wanted modern and very clean makeup. We tried to plan natural earth tones, nude lipstick,” noted the Colombian beauty, who likes to keep things simple: “Less is better the older you get,” she reminded.

Modern Family Scoop - Fizbo Flashback!

Here is a scoop from Mickey O'Connor:

Any Modern Family scoop? — Paula and Rob

MICKEY: Lots actually! The cast spilled their guts to us during a visit to the Los Angeles set. Oddly, their teases all involved undressing. "Cameron challenges Jay to a racquetball match and their butts might touch in the locker room," Eric Stonestreet reports. Meanwhile, Jesse Tyler Ferguson indicated that Mitchell "might end up in an article of clothing that is not mine" — and doesn't belong to any other male cast member either. Julie Bowen keeps it simple: "Naked, hotel lobby and flying underwear — just chew on that for a while." Not enough? How about this? Fizbo flashback!

The touching of butts I'm sure happens on the episode, "Moon Landing".  The rest of the details Eric revealed, we still need to wait a little while for the official promo releases by ABC.

Too Bad Modern Family Didn't Make it in the Golden Globes

Though Modern Family didn't win last night, it is still the best comedy series for me.  I'm just a bit sad but hey!  There's another year to come, and maybe next time our favorite sitcom will hit the mark on the Golden Globes.  Visit the site below for the list of winners.

Do You Like Kevin Bacon on Modern Family?

Kevin Bacon has agreed to come to "Modern Family", according to Jesse Tyler Ferguson when he met him during the Golden Globes.  Apparently, Kevin won Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television in "Taking Chance" (HBO).  Who would ever forget him on his movies like "Footloose", "Murder in the First", and "Flatliners"?  Julie Bowen was game When it was mentioned to her that Kevin might be guesting on their show.  The storyline has been thought of by Julie mentioning that it's time for her character to have a hot flashback on her ex-boyfriend and Kevin is so ideal for that role.  What do you think of this, is it a good idea?

Judy Greer Visits Modern Family

TV and movie actress Judy Greer who is known for her role in "Arrested Development"as Kitty Sanchez, will guest star on Modern Family later this season.  Her role will be a former girlfriend of Phil who reconnects with him on Facebook.  Great casting for Modern Family.  I think every actress wants to be in this new funny and amazing show.

Kissing a Fool, What Women Want, The Wedding Planner, The Village, Elizabethtown, and 27 Dresses are only some of the numerous movies that she had.

Modern Family - "Fifteen Percent" Sneak Peeks

Here are some video clips for comedy Wednesday's Modern Family TV series episode "Fifteen Percent". You will see that Claire is not a techy type of person.  The scenes are funny, especially when Dylan saw her naked.  Chazz Palminteri is the guest star on this episode and I love it when he ran his fingers on Jesse Tyler Ferguson's coat.  I will not miss this episode of Modern Family.
