The game of chess with Jay, Gloria and Manny will surely give us tons of laughter.  Mitchell will entertain us in becoming a tough parent like Cameron who just takes action in protecting the family.  All these and more on ABC's "Modern Family".  Meanwhile, enjoy these videos for the episode "Game Changer".

Modern Family - "Game Changer" Promotional Pics

Below are the photos of the episode "Game Changer" on "Modern Family" which airs tonight on ABC.  Thanks to TV Overmind for these pics which tell a lot on what's gonna happen with our favorite characters in the show.  Jay plays opposite Manny and Gloria in the game of chess.  Any guess on who will win the game?  In the last picture, Mitchell has his own way of toughening up.  I'm so excited to see how he does it and what happens next.  I could only see him as a peace-loving and violence-free kind of individual so the picture is really funny for me.  I wonder what Claire's gift to Phil would be.  Any guesses?  Sound-off below.

Modern Family - "Game Changer" Preview

ABC's "Modern Family" invites us all to Phil's birthday celebration.  And don't forget your gift!  The only gift you can give according to Claire is the hottest new product that launches on the day of Phil's birthday.  I'm sure we will enjoy another blast from the Pritchetts, as you will see in this promo of tomorrow night's episode.  Gloria doesn't seem to be happy with how the game turned out.  Here is the video from Primetvpromos.

Julie Bowen is One of the "Super Moms" on TV

I call our very own Julie Bowen as a "Super Mom".  Know why?  The reason is that she is a hard working mother in real life and her job right now is also to be a mom on TV.  She plays Claire, the better-half of Phil in the funniest, craziest, mockumentary "Modern Family".  Working Mother has round up Hollywoods moms who play the role of moms too on TV.  Julie Bowen is one of them.  To see their full list of "Super Moms", click here.

Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson on USA Today

"Modern Family's" most high-profile gay couple Cam and Mitchell played by Eric Stonestreet and Jesse Tyler Ferguson were interviewed by USA Today last week and here is what they talked about:

Stonestreet: "I know what Jesse's is of mine."

Ferguson: "You're Pollyanna."

Stonestreet: "Go ahead."

Ferguson: "He has this very Southern personality. He's always very chatty with people, and he gets very emotional. It's very sweet. I call him Pollyanna, basically."

Stonestreet: "You do make fun of me, but it's OK. Jesse is constantly using the bathroom in his trailer and telling everyone about it. Always announcing to the set and to the crew (when he has finished). I never once go to the bathroom in the trailer! It's the worst place in the world to go to the bathroom."

That's about as mean and catty as these two get. On their Golden Globe-nominated series (Wednesdays, 9 p.m. ET/PT ), they also have an easy, relaxed vibe as a long-term couple grappling with their addition, an adopted baby girl who won't sleep through the night — and, on set, spends most of her time sobbing, with Ferguson the one more adept at calming her down.

"Jesse and I are going to be friends forever. This show has put us together," Stonestreet says.

Interjects Ferguson: "Pollyanna!"

Their sexuality is secondary to their characters' story lines, which focus mostly on the humdrum and often sweet aspects of couplehood: what birthday gift to buy their nephew or how to behave at a kiddie gym class with their baby.

"So many traditional parents have come up to me and said, 'My husband is totally Cameron.' They're relating to it," says Ferguson, who is openly gay and single. "I really wanted to be part of this couple on television. I think it's groundbreaking. It hasn't been done. I wanted to be the voice for that character and represent."

Plus, Ferguson says, it might help people be more comfortable with gay marriage.

"It's a safe 'in' for a lot of people who are on the fence about the issue," he says. "They feel OK liking our couple. Maybe that will bleed into their personal life. Maybe it's not such a big deal if two men raise a baby."

Stonestreet is straight, and also single, in real life. Being on one of prime time's hits hasn't exactly been a boon to his dating life.

"To meet from the ground up a girl is difficult. Being introduced by friends is a little easier," he says. "I never want to seem embarrassed or ashamed that I'm playing a gay person. So I would never want to be like, 'Hey, I'm not gay.' "

Ironically, Ferguson says, "we were finding when we were going out, especially at the beginning of the show, that a lot of men were hitting on Eric and a lot of women were approaching me."

Says Stonestreet: "It's really funny."

Still, sexual orientation aside, Stonestreet sees a lot of himself in his character, a huggable, affectionate and exceedingly generous guy who watches football with his father-in-law and plays host to a stranger's wedding in his own house.

"I consider myself a straight version of Cameron as far as the passion for life goes," Stonestreet says. "Cameron is a passionate person, and I definitely have that. I'm probably a little more serious than people would anticipate,"

As for Ferguson, whose Mitchell is the stricter parent, "I'm more humorous than my serious character. I love having dinner by myself. I'm kind of a homebody. I've enjoyed my personal moments."

What's ahead for Cameron and Mitchell? One joins a band, and the other bonds with his father.

Ferguson: "We get more into the relationship with me and my dad, and him learning how to be OK with my sexuality and having this adopted baby and accepting Cameron."

Stonestreet: "I end up getting the wheels on my car stolen."

Spoiler Alert: What Claire Has for Phil's Birthday

Kristin Dos Santos of EOnline! has some exciting spoiler news for us.

Jeff in Minnesota: Anything ridiculously wonderful coming up on Modern Family?

Remember how Claire crashed and burned with Phil's Valentine's Day gift (ahem, free coupons for hugs, ahem)? Well, it's time to pull out the bells and whistles for his birthday, and this time she's determined to score him the latest in technology. We're guessing this somehow goes awry. (Side note: Did I ever tell you how Julie Bowen told me she thought my husband was gay after running into him in the baby-food aisle at the supermarket? Story for another time, when my likes-to-dress-well-and-organize-his-shopping-cart-so-sue-him husband isn't listening...Hee.)

Ed O'Neill on Being the Father of "Modern Family"

I consider Ed O'Neill as the Father of "Modern Family" because he is the head of the Pritchetts.  And he gave birth to two more families who are crazy but lovable.  Here is what he says to TV Squad about the funniest and most loved comedy show, "Modern Family":

When you got the script for this show, it obviously was a little different than the comedy experience you previously had
Completely different, yes.

Was that what attracted you to the role of Jay, because it was so different from Al Bundy, and so different from the dramatic roles you've played?
Not so much different from Al, because everything is. But I liked the ensemble nature of the show. That attracted me right away. That the show, there's a lot of go-to people on the show. So it takes a lot of pressure off, you know? And also it becomes, for me, less boring. You know, you see that person all the time. Especially when you're doing it every week. It just gets old fast. But this show seemed to have more comedic potential because of the three separate but interconnected families.

When the show first started, they really tried to keep it a secret from us that the families were interconnected.
And only announced it before the pilot.

Were you happy that they did that? Because it seemed like they kind of made the decision mid-way through to kind of change their minds...
No. I wasn't personally happy. I wasn't outraged. But I thought well, they made the decision, I guess they feel that it'll draw more people. And then when I watched it, I don't think it hurt.

How has Jay changed over the first... how far are you guys into the season? About 2/3 of the way through now?

(to Steven Levitan) Are we 2/3rds in Steve? Into the season?

Steven Levitan: In the season? That's about right. 2/3...that's about right.

So how has Jay kind of changed and shifted since the start?
Well, they're making him more of a prick. And the thing I look at...

Levitan: Why are we inspired to do that? Where is that coming from? I'm not sure...

(laughing) You know what he's saying. I think that there's always a change when the actual actors begin to work with each other on a regular basis and you become friendly... hopefully...you start to like one another. In between takes, you start to share stories and such.

And then there's this sort of a melding, which I love that process, because that's likethe honeymoon, really. And then things begin to become a little warmer, a little more comfortable. You can do things with a little look instead of, you know what I mean? It becomes more real. That's how it changes.

First of all, how interesting is it that a lot of the cast of 'Married... With Children' are all sprinkled through the primetime schedule? Christina (Applegate) had her own show for a couple years, and now Katey (Sagal) is on 'Sons of Anarchy.'
Yes, yes. I like it because it kind of shows that there was some talent in that cast, you know, and some staying power.

Now that it's been off the air for thirteen years, do you think it's going to be looked back on fondly as a family sitcom even though it's a little twisted? Especially considering the TV landscape these days?
I really don't know. I mean, I don't know where it's going to land in the scheme of things as they look back on it. I think it's gonna be, certainly it was a bit of a ground-breaker. How good or how... I don't know. I mean, I think that it was funny, and that goes a long way. And that's all I know. I don't know. You know, it's hard to judge your own kind of thing anyway.

Alright, just how is it working with Sofia Vergara in most of your scenes?

I love playing with her. I really love working with her. I think she's extraordinarily funny. Of course, she's not hard to look at. I love the idea that the different culture, and it's hard enough to understand a woman, you know, in a marriage, in the same culture. And you take a Colombian woman, beautiful, young, and so there's always the surprises for Jay, things he didn't quite bargain on, I would imagine, when he married her. Obviously, she was beautiful, and that was thrilling. And now that he's married,
there are puzzling aspects.

in the pilot, it was kind of the joke that you were trying to be younger, and they've eased that off on that
Yeah, yeah, I'm glad. I think it works anyway without the crazy clothes and stuff. You know, they dress me now very nicely. And not... this is the way I dress... but they have the $600 shirts with the jeans, you know, out. But I think that that and the nice car, and obviously he's got money, and he's with the young woman. Obviously he's gotta try to stay (youthful).

Right, keep up with her, yeah. But not as comically though as the pilot.
No. And I don't think you have to do that. I think that plays itself, you know?

Ty Burrell Becomes a Real Dad

Ty Burrell and wife Holly recently adopted a little girl.  Will Ty Burrell become Phil of Modern Family?  Maybe, an even better dad than Phil.  Cheers!  Congratulations to the Burrells for this milestone in their life.  Here is what Ty said to Kristin Dos Santos when asked about parenting:

"I apologize for half of it. But I will actually take a little bit of pride in how much Phil cares. He really is putting in the time, and he really cares about his kids even though he gets very few things right. I do love how much he tries, you know what I mean? If my wife and I ever have kids, I hope I can try as hard as Phil. Maybe not quite as hard as Phil, but I hope I can try."

And now, the money quote/epiphany: "I guess if Phil can raise kids, so can I!"

Less than two weeks later and whammo! He has adopted a baby. Coincidence?

Of course. And I'm only kidding. But (bad) jokes aside, it's clear Ty had babies on the brain when I
talked to him two weeks ago at the Paley Festival's Modern Family event, and seems well prepared to be an even better dad than ultracool Phil Dunphy.

See what else Ty says about Phil and parenting in the video clip above.

As for the show's biggest diva, Ty says she, too, comes in a tiny package.

"Let's be honest," Ty deadpans. "Lily is not a team player. Nothing but finger sandwiches and Evian. Just a little bit of dialogue would be so nice [to make her do]. But no, she's like, let them do the work. Smoking her very long cigarettes."

One thing's certain: Ty's newly adopted little girl has one very funny dad. And he might want to keep her away from Lily.

Modern Family's Julie Bowen in Top 10 Funniest Women on TV

Movie Line has outlined their Top 10 Funniest Women in primetime television.  I am glad to tell you that Julie Bowen of "Modern Family" is #9 on their list.  Click on their site to see the full list of funniest women in primetime.

While Sofia Vergara plays the more traditionally kooky Gloria, Bowen scintillates as Claire Dunphy, the un-whimsical wife and mother in Modern Family’s nuclear unit. While her husband Phil Dunphy (Ty Burrell) wins more laughs, Claire’s self-doubt ends up producing the series’ most unexpected laugh-out-loud moments. Quoth Mrs. Dunphy: “You know how growing up we all had that voice inside our head that tells us we’re not good enough? Well, mine was outside my head driving me to school.”
